Spotlight on VikaVita.
What weight can a single mark have? A mere gesture of resistance, a word of phrase scrawled on a wall? A sheaf of placards handed out at a rally? A phrase shared limitlessly on social media?
The questions answer themselves. Words and symbols have long helped turn the tide of unrest, war, and social conflict. A well-placed sign in the hands of passionate activists is a powerful weapon indeed.
VikaVita’s work lives at the edges of surface and scale. From micro-art-books to sky-high-walls, their expressive lettering calls their audience to action.
VikaVita is a two-woman powerhouse of lettering and design based in Kyiv, Ukraine, who have used their talents to resist the Russian invasion of their home country.
Names of Fallen Heroes 2022 catalogs fellow countrymen and women lost in the war, while their Stand with Ukraine wordmark is a clarion call for the rest of the world to do exactly that. They brought Allkin to life through impactful visuals in Ukraine.

But while VikaVita is an example of creatives intervening from the front lines, they also understand the value of symbols and messages of solidarity and shared purpose from outside their country. Creatives, like you, whose hearts break at the human tragedy unfolding in their country, and who choose to do what they can to resist it.
